The promise of rest.

Rest is a scarcity in this world today. We work harder and longer than ever. We have church, spouses, kids, friends, social obligations, and responsibilities that just seem like they won’t wait. We are drawn in by social media feeds, the latest tv series, and news broadcasters telling us of the latest chaos. And although it seems like rest is a thing of the past, there is a place we can find it right in the middle of the busyness. ❤️

““Praise the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses.”
1 Kings 8:56 NLT

It’s amazing to me that I can read these words, written so long ago, and know that they are still true today, and that now I am considered to be part of His people. What an amazing truth that is.

I look back at all the things the children of Israel went through. There were many years, even decades, with trouble on every side. They suffered great loss, great trials and learned so many lessons the hard way. But in the midst of that the Lord was faithful to give His people rest. It’s an amazing thing the Lord does when He gives us rest. We can be in the midst of the toughest battle, and find rest in Him. He gives us rest in our body, and even more importantly rest in our minds, heart , and spirit. There is no rest like that we find in the Lord. We can tell Him our troubles, pour out our hearts to Him, even complain and ask questions. He hears it all and is faithful to give us rest through all our troubled times. When it doesn’t even make sense that we would be rested and renewed, His presence allows us to do just that.

Not one of His words has failed.

Not one word.

He will always make sure His promises come to pass.

He will do exactly what He says He will.

Now sometimes there are contingencies on us doing what he’s required in order to see His word and promises come to pass in our lives, but none the less His words are truth.

I love that about the Lord.

His rest and promises are beyond our understanding, but beyond priceless in the hectic lives we live.

Find rest in Jesus today. This promise is for you too. ❤️
