Daily share- Begin to Live.
“Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live; learn to use good judgment.””
Proverbs 9:6 NLT
I tell you this, that I didn’t really begin to live until I met Jesus. He came that we would have life, and have it abundantly. He didn’t come so that we would be trapped in a simple meaningless existence wondering around aimlessly. He came so we could Leave our simple ways behind.
What simple ways? Well for one sin is simple. Basically you just have to feed the desires of the flesh. We are born into sin, and when you are born into something it just comes naturally to you.
Following your own will is simple. You just do whatever you want to. Whatever you think is best for you. Chase after the things you want and if it doesn’t work out chase after something else. You call all of the shots based on your own desires. What could be more simple than that?
Those things are indeed simple, but they in no way constitute living. That is merely existing. You are on a whim to fulfill your fleshly desires never having any true direction or objective judgement to see if what you are doing is good.
You only truly learn to live when that good judgement is applied to your life, and that simple minded mentality is left behind. Is leaving that behind an adjustment? Absolutely, denying your self anything is a struggle. It’s hard to break something you’re born into. But it can be done. Once Jesus brings wisdom into our lives to realize that his good judgement is what we need in order to really live, then it becomes easier to leave those simple ways behind.
Once we learn that good judgement leads to good results, it’s much easier to seek out good judgement in all we do. Where do we get it? The Lord said to ask Him for wisdom. He won’t only give us the wisdom but He will help us to press towards the life He has for us through good judgement. He will help us to leave our simple selfish ways behind and really learn to live the abundant life He has for us.
I’m thankful for His continuous work in me to accomplish just that.
